Carp were introduced into
Ontario in 1880. They inhabit shallow, warm, weedy water and stir up sediment
when feeding on aquatic plants. Carp are noted for their heavy body and thick
scales. Their average weight is 1 to 3 lbs. (.5 to 1.4 kg). This fish is found
in Rice Lake, Chemong Lake, Pigeon Lake, Stoney Lake, Buckhorn Lake and more. |
